There have been a number of incidents in recent weeks where traders have called to homes in the local area.
Police are asking residents to be vigilant of bogus callers and rogue traders.
If someone calls to your home, you should always ask them for ID.
You can check if the caller is genuine by phoning Quickcheck – a Freephone number 0800 013 22 90.
Police are also promoting their No Cold Calling initiative. This initiative involves the use of stickers on your door or window stating that your home is a no cold calling zone and that traders and callers should not call. If someone does call, you can advise them that your home is a no cold calling zone and ask them to leave. These stickers are available from PSNI.
It is also important that we look out for the more vulnerable in our community. If you notice callers in the area or any suspicious activity, you should phone police straight away on 101.
To get more information about making your home secure you can contact your local PSNI crime prevention officer on 101.
